Grampians Texture
March 14 - 19 2015
Halls Gap
Jewellery course with Mary Hettmansperger from the United States.
Great tutor.
My friend Pam Hovel was teaching "Making an Eco-printed and Nuno-felted top. "
Shared a house with 4 women who I'd never met before - lots of fun. During the day, while we were away at classes, our lounge and dining room were being used by Cresside Collette who was teaching tapestry weaving .
The town was almost taken over by the 340 women who were involved with the different courses.
Being able to walk into town each day to go to class. Being with all these positive, creative people. No distractions.
Being in class from 9am - 4pm and just wanting to learn and make jewellery.
Kangaroos by our back door and all around. Walking within 2 meters of them on the oval on the way into town. There's no way I'd play any sport on that oval with kangaroo poo everywhere.
The pieces we made were in copper. This is far cheaper than silver and a good way to start. Because it's not expensive, you don't feel anxious about cutting in to the copper and can experiment more. These are the jewellery pieces I made in the order that they were made.
A good source of tools and gel flux etc is Sarah at Sydney Jewellery School.
